etectRx Unveils eBrief 2, A New Generation in Intelligent Incontinence Care
Tear tab-activated sensor for dry and wet-state monitoring, extended detection range, and automatic care-event logging means less to install, less to chart, and more resident visibility. Installs begin Q1 2027.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BOSTON, Massachusetts (October 12, 2026) – etectRx today announced eBrief 2, the next generation of its intelligent incontinence monitoring system, at the Delivering Solutions 26 AHCA/NCAL Convention and Expo. Built on 18 months of caregiver feedback from the original eBrief system, eBrief 2 delivers stronger performance while being easier to deploy and use.
At its center is a new tab-activated sensor insert, live with a single pull, requiring no tools, charging or pairing, and compatible with any disposal method. It reports both dry and wet states, so changes are logged automatically, eliminating the requirement for caregivers to record changes. A single gateway now covers multiple rooms or a full common area, greatly simplifying installation of the system. Other key features of eBrief 2 include:
● Smarter alerts: shows resident, room and time elapsed; escalates unacknowledged alerts by text or email.
● Automatic inventory and ordering: tracks insert usage and updates shipment quantities for quick approval.
● Scalable enrollment: no system limits, communities can enroll as many residents as needed.
● Clearer reporting: eBrief Insights unifies every care event into refined resident and organizational reports.
“For too long, incontinence has been treated as a task to manage instead of a clinical signal to act on,” said Jacqueline Vance, RNC, BSN, CDONA/LTC, CDP. IP-BC, CWCN, clinical lead for etectRx and author of “The Real Nurse Jackie” column for McKnight’s Long-Term Care News. “When caregivers know exactly when care is needed and when it’s done, they can stay ahead of skin breakdown, infections and falls. That’s the visibility residents deserve, and it’s the change this industry has been waiting for.”
The launch follows etectRx’s Gold win for Innovator of the Year at the 2026 McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Awards, selected by an independent panel of 24 long-term care stakeholders. This win brings overdue recognition that incontinence is a root cause of preventable adverse events, not just a hygiene issue, and that eBrief 2 builds on the real-time visibility that earned it.
“Our mission has always been to bring dignity, efficiency and visibility to incontinence care, an issue the industry has historically treated as routine,” said Eric Buffkin, CEO of etectRx. “We didn’t get here alone. Our partners and the caregivers on their floors have shaped every step, and eBrief 2 is the direct result. We’re thrilled to debut it as the next step in what incontinence care can be.”
eBrief 2 installations begin Q1 2027. Request early access at ebriefcommunity.com/ebrief-2, or see it in person at AHCA/NCAL booth 1101.
